In my youth, I thought there was a single skeleton key for all of life—I was convinced of it— all I had to do was keep looking. I never quite gave up on my search.
Like everyone else, I’ve discovered doors for which I had no key or any idea where to look. So often the key I sought was in plain sight.
I’ve learned to live with my own discomfort,
to allow myself to be touched by pain—
even to embrace it as the great healer,
a kind of traveling professor.
(Glennon Doyle Melton)
Understanding the energy of any pain, no matter its origin or its scope, is the key that opens more doors for me than any other. It is a true teacher, allowing me to open the door when I am able.
Perhaps I have found my master key. No matter. It is ever with me.
Aim for Even posts offer equanimity a dose at a time. No day or dose is ever the same, even if the aim is. You may read about the origins of Aim for Even here or on this site’s About page.
