At My Most Powerful

Conflation, a merging of two, perhaps a perfect storm, perhaps not.

Regardless, all storms have an eye from which to sit and observe. The journey to the center of the storm is a bracing one yet all that is fresh is not necessarily invigorating– immediately, anyway.

Especially when it comes to MRI results or for that matter, the latest media story. With media or MRI, the devil is in the details. Wading through media chaff is similar to comprehending radiology reports.

I peel verbiage, layer after layer, until I reach the core.

There is a lot of wading through muck, truer to media than MRI, but both do inform, ultimately, and information can keep a bad situation from getting worse. Or, that’s the theory. Clearly, MRI results reflect this more accurately than media reports.

And now, I leave the media to itself–or is it themselves–in favor of MRI results, which reveal varying degrees of nerve compression in my cervical spine. Nothing new there. It is always good news when my spinal cord is not pinched by degenerative disc disease.

What’s “news” is a herniated disc at C7-T1 with some nerve compression at C-8. That is less a surprise and more a way to the center of my current storm–pain–it provides me a life lens through which I am able to focus.

I leave behind any stories I was telling myself for the actual condition of my cervical spine. I separate scenario from what is playing out. I create a space. Pain is not the only item in my newsfeed.

I am present to the storm as it is happening. At no time am I more powerful than when I am present. I choose how I am.

My space is not yours nor yours mine, which is as it should be. Yet, when we are thoughtful, we send to each other’s newsfeed the best of ourselves. What other reason is there for being.

Remain true to yourself, but move ever

upward toward greater

consciousness and greater love!

At the summit, you will find

yourselves united with all those who,

from every direction, have made

 the same ascent.

For everything that rises must converge.

  1. As much as it saddens me to imagine the crush of your pain, I am awed….. let me say that in caps….AWED….. by your ability to use that pain and elevate it to become a path to higher consciousness. I don’t know if I could be so brave and so wise if I were in the same place, but you are showing that it can be done. That it is within the power of the human spirit. Thank you !
